The play day scheduled for October 4, 2026, is on! Water tower road closed from 10am to 4pm for free play. Music with The Baltimore Strummers is canceled due to rain.

Today’s concert at the Roland Water Tower is canceled due to the ongoing rain/wind/cold. We were trying to make it work because we were so excited to host Tony Waddy and The Ridgeleys, but Mother Nature has a different idea.

We are delighted to announce our 2026 calendar of events!

We’ve got a fantastic line-up of musicians playing at the tower monthly from June to October, including two bands led by neighbors.

Back by popular demand: another flea market in September.

And — new this year: monthly play days, when we’ll block the road around the tower for biking, scooting, chalk art, lawn games, picnics, you name it!

This Saturday, Baltimore will host a world-class professional cycling race that will pass right by the Roland Water Tower ten times throughout the day. 

Since most of Roland Avenue will be closed all day, it’s the perfect day for a Play Day at the Tower!

Saturday, September 6, 2025

9am-5pm

Roland Water Tower – 4210 Roland Ave.

The road around the water tower will be blocked off from 9am (or earlier) to 5pm. We provide the chalk and the traffic cones — you provide the fun!

Bring your bikes, scooters, chalk, bubbles, cowbells, a picnic, lawn games, a book, an art project, a ball, and get ready to play! 

Note:

• Nothing formal is planned at the water tower on 9/6 — this is just a day to enjoy a community space, connect with neighbors, and cheer on top-level bikers from over 30 countries as they zip by. 
• It will be tricky to get to the water tower if you’re not already nearby. The race starts downtown, goes north on Falls Road, east on Northern Parkway, and south on Roland Ave.
• If you live or work in Baltimore, plan ahead for street closures and parking restrictions! See links below.
